‘Ishan Kishan ne itna bura bhi nahi kiya’ – Fans react to Wasim Jaffer desires to see Yashasvi Jaiswal play ahead of Ishan Kishan in second T20I against West Indies
Ishan Kishan has had an ordinary time with the Indian team especially in the T20Is where he doesn’t have a single fifty in his last 10 outings
Wasim Jaffer has stated that he would want Yashasvi Jaiswal to replace Ishan Kishan as India’s opener in the second T20I match against the West Indies on Sunday. Jaiswal set new benchmarks during the IPL 2023 campaign with his outstanding performance. He broke the 15-year-old record as the most runs scored by an uncapped youngster in a single season while performing for the Rajasthan Royals, scoring an amazing 625 runs in 14 games. His highest score was 124, but he consistently maintained a 48.07 average with a 163.61 strike rate. Being picked for the Indian squad ahead of their Test series versus West Indies was a result of his amazing performance.
In July 2023, Jaiswal played his first game for his country against West Indies. He had a strong start to his Test career, scoring an impressive 171 runs during his first game. He also earned one of the best five debut scores in away Tests. Another standout of the game was his partnership alongside skipper Rohit Sharma, which produced an astounding opening partnership of 229 runs.
“I want to see Jaiswal in place of Ishan Kishan.” : Wasim Jaffer
In an interview with Cricinfo, Jaffer stated that he preferred Jaiswal above Kishan for the next T20I in Guyana. The former Indian batter also expressed his concern over Kishan’s performance in T20I matches. He said, “I want to see Yashasvi Jaiswal. He should play as an opening batter. I want to see Jaiswal in place of Ishan Kishan. Ishan Kishan’s T20I form worries me. In the last 15 innings, he hasn’t even scored a 40, the strike rate is also too low. So, that’s a cause of concern, but he was in good form in ODIs. It’s a different format (T20I). He also had an ordinary IPL season.”
Jaffer stated that after Jaiswal’s outstanding effort throughout the IPL this season, it would be perfect to give him a chance, and the 21-year-old’s insertion into the lineup is a move he is undoubtedly looking forward to. He said, “Why not give an opportunity to the boy who played very well in the IPL? He won the emerging player award and is confident. I’ll definitely look towards that change.”

Ishan Kishan scored 4 fifties in 4 innings. One bad day was waiting for him and that was 1st T20I where he was not able to score. India cannot rely only on him. He will come back strong in 2nd match.
PRETTY IMPRESSED WITH TILAK VERMA

By this logic Sanju Samson should also be dropped as his T20I career as been as avg as Kishan's
— NIKHIL (@nikhil_nsu) August 6, 2023
Kishan should not be there , he should be a backup keeper , Samson should do keeping and jaiswal opening with gill

He must play. Otherwise something is very very wrong with the system.
