‘World cup ki Umeed Zinda hai’- Fans excited for possibility of Rishabh Pant’s return to Indian team before ODI World Cup 2023
The Indian Cricket Board and the medical team at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where the India wicketkeeper is receiving rehabilitation after surviving a horrific automobile accident last December, have been taken aback by Rishabh Pant’s quick recovery.
While the Indian Cricket Board is aiming to accelerate Pant’s rehabilitation in order to get him ready for the ODI World Cup this year, the recovery process is expected to take longer. However, the idea of not playing cricket in 2023 has not deterred Pant, who has lately begun to walk without crutches and climb stairs without assistance.
Pant is likely to be available for World Cup 2023
Pant, who is undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, began his Instagram post with, “Not bad yaar Rishabh. Simple things can be difficult at times.” The first portion of the short video clip shows Pant straining to climb the stairs and needing the help of railings, but the second part shows him boldly conquering the steps. Pant is said to be combining his rehabilitation with water therapy, mild swimming, and table tennis.
He has also spent time conducting interactive sessions with groups of age-group cricketers, both male and female, who have been attending NCA training camps. NCA president VVS Laxman arranged these sessions to help break up the routine while also boosting the morale of young players.
Pant last appeared during India’s December 2022 visit of Bangladesh. While Pant’s absence from the field has been a major disappointment, it is reported that he has kept himself engaged and upbeat by watching the World Test Championship(WTC) final with some of the other India players undergoing rehab at the NCA, including Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, and Prasidh Krishna.
Jasprit Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer are recuperating in NCA following their successful surgery. Both are hoping to return to the Indian team for the upcoming Asia Cup in 2023. The ACC has formally accepted PCB’s hybrid format, and the event will henceforth be held in both Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It is scheduled to take place from August 31st to September 17th.
