Indian T20 League 2022 – Gujarat vs Kolkata – Top 10 Memes to leave you in splits
Gujarat have now won six out of their first seven games of the Indian T20 League 2022
Gujarat and Kolkata faced each other in the 35th game of the Indian T20 league 2022 at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai. In an interesting turn of events, Gujarat won the toss and decided to bat first. This was the first time in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022 that a team had chosen to bat first after winning the toss. Meanwhile, they had a poor start as they lost the wicket of their opener Shubman Gill (7) in the second over.
He was dismissed by Tim Southee with the score reading 8/1 in 1.1 overs. Skipper Hardik Pandya came into the crease and joined hands with their keeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha. The duo shook off the early blow and stitched a partnership of 75 runs before Saha (25) was caught by Venkatesh Iyer off Umesh Yadav’s bowling. The score read 83/2 at the time. David Miller was the next man in at that stage and joined hands with his skipper.
The duo added 50 runs for the third wicket before Miller (27) was dismissed by Shivam Mavi in the 17th over of the innings. Pandya (67) followed in the next over and the twin strikes change the entire complexion of the innings. From 138/4, the Indian T20 League debutants finished with 156/9 with Andre Russell picking four wickets in the only over he bowled on Saturday. In reply, the two-time winners had a poor start.
Sam Billings (4) became the first victim of Mohammed Shami in the first over of the innings. Two overs later, Shami picked the wicket of Sunil Narine (5). Nitish Rana (2) couldn’t do much as he was dismissed by Lockie Ferguson. Their skipper Shreyas Iyer (12) couldn’t carry his form as he was dismissed by Yash Dayal in the seventh over. At 34/4, Rinku Singh (35) and Venkatesh Iyer tried to steady the innings with a 45-run partnership
However, their partnership was cut short by Yash Dayal as Singh was caught by Saha. The all-rounder (17) followed him in the next over as the became the first victim of Rashid Khan. In the 16th over, Khan took the wicket of Shivam Mavi (2) with a googly. The likes of Andre Russell (48) and Umesh Yadav (15*) took the team close but couldn’t win the game as they were restricted to 148/8 and thus, lost the game by eight runs.
