Watch: Dinesh Karthik and Sunil Gavaskar join ‘Tum Tum’ trend with a cricketing twist
The two are enjoying commentary stint for the India vs Australia ODI series
Indian cricketers have been known to bring their A-game when it comes to social media, with players such as Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, and Yuzvendra Chahal often creating fabulous content that becomes part of social media trends. Now, Dinesh Karthik and former India captain Sunil Gavaskar have joined the ‘Tum Tum’ trend with a cricketing twist.
In a video posted by Karthik on his Instagram profile, the two stars can be seen in a shadow practising cricket shots as the ‘Tum Tum’ song plays in the background. Karthik captioned the post, “#T20s or #Tests Which side are you on? ?? Fun times with a legend who’s so humble and young at heart @gavaskarsunilofficial #Cricket #TestCricket #CricketReels #INDvAUS #T20cricket #funreels.”
Here’s the viral video featuring Sunil Gavaskar and Dinesh Karthik:
Mumbai can win despite Bumrah’s absence- Gavaskar
In addition to their fun social media content, Gavaskar has also recently backed Mumbai and stated that the five-time champions have the potential to win the title once again, despite the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.
“They have to forget what happened last season and believe that they have the team to do it again. They will miss Jasprit Bumrah. But they have a team that can win the championship once again. I see them in the top three definitely because they have a point to prove after last year’s performance,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
Bumrah, who underwent back surgery in New Zealand earlier this month, will be racing against time to get fit for the Cricket World Cup, which will be held in India from October-November this year.
In the meantime, Karthik and Gavaskar’s lighthearted social media content is a welcome break from the stress of high-pressure cricket matches. It’s always heartening to see players who take their game seriously also have some fun off the field. It’s also great to see legends of the game like Gavaskar getting involved in social media trends, which helps to keep the younger generation of fans engaged with the sport.
