‘Being on the same team as her is also really nice’ – Renuka Singh Thakur after signing for Bangalore Franchise
Renuka Singh Thakur was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore for a big money fee of INR 1.5 crores.
The Women’s T20 League has started to establish a large fan base and cricket fans all around the world are excited for the new dawn in women’s cricket. The Women’s T20 League is set to begin next month and all the matches will be played in Mumbai to reduce the travel plan of the teams, players and coaching staff.
The inaugural Women’s T20 League auction took place yesterday in Mumbai and some of the best players were bought by the five franchises for whopping prices. Bangalore Franchise made the biggest signings in the auction as they bought Smriti Mandhana for INR 3.4 crore, Richa Ghosh for INR 1.9 crore, Ellyse Perry for INR 1.7 crore, Sophie Devine for INR 0.5 crore.
The Bangalore franchise also bought young pacer Renuka Singh Thakur for INR 1.5 crore which is a great price. Renuka had an excellent 2022 for India and this price is well deserved. She also won the Cricket Governing Body’s Emerging Player of the award as she was brilliant with the new ball and was effective for the team whenever she came onto bowl.
Renuka Singh spoke about how she felt during the Women’s T20 League Auction and how she feels to play under Smriti Mandhana. She said, “Being in the same team as Smriti Mandhana is also really nice, since we play together and it’s really fun playing alongside her. We will try to make Bangalore’s win. Please keep supporting Bangalore.”
The Bangalore Franchise team is shaping up well and have built a solid squad to choose from. They also bought Megan Schutt, Heather Knight, Dane Van Niekerk who are some of the big stars of the women’s game.
