Indian MMA fighter Anshul Jubli created history by defeating Jeka Saragih of Indonesia on the Road to the UFC finals. With this win, Anshul Jubilee earns a historic UFC contract in the lightweight division at UFC Apex in Nevada.

Anshul entered the match as an underdog, but he put on a stellar performance in the match, inflicted a lot of damage on his opponent, and won the match via a second-round knockout. With this feat, he became only the second Indian-born fighter after Bharat Khandare to win a UFC contract through a Vegas win.

Anshul comes from Uttarkashi in the state of Uttarakhand, India. He has brought laurels to India by bagging a UFC contract and has made it clear that he wants to be one of the best fighters in the world. In the post-match interview, he said that he is not going to stop now and also said that he is the first-ever lightweight winner from the mountains of Uttarakhand.

“Namaste UFC….we have arrived! INDIA IS HERE! Captain India is here. We have arrived and we are not stopping here, we are going all the way to the top. See, what we have just done. First-ever road to UFC lightweight winner from the Himalayas of Uttrakhand, from the great country India,” he said after the win.

The game plan was to keep the distance: Anshul Jubli

He also talked about his fight and revealed the strategy that he used during the match. He said that he just kept his distance and hurt him on the ground. He said that he will improve more to be the best in the world.

“The game plan was to keep the distance, hurt him in the ground, and dominate. And that’s exactly what we’ve done, we’ve dominated this fight, and we’ve proved why we are here, why Indian fighters deserve to win the UFC, and I’m gonna keep evolving, keep grinding, and my plan is to be one of the best in the world, and I will do whatever it needs to be done,” said Jubli to the broadcasters.

“It is very important. Our Indian MMA community has really worked hard to send a boy into this promotion (UFC) to represent India. They have done a great job and I’m gonna make them proud,” Anshul added.
