‘He was pretty much the joker on that side’ – English cricketer on Haris Rauf

Former England U19 skipper Harry Brook has said that Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf is one of the funniest guys in the Lahore Qalandars team. During the Pakistan Super League earlier this year, both players were part of the victorious Qalandars side. Brook scored 264 runs in 10 games at an average of 52.80, and had a strike rate of 171.42 during the PSL 2022. This included a superb hundred as well. On the other hand, Rauf took 16 wickets in 13 games, averaging 29.07, striking at 19.3, and had an economy rate of 9.09.

These contributions helped the team lift their maiden PSL title this year. Meanwhile, the Yorkshire player reminisced about his time with the pacer during the PSL. The former said that the players enjoyed the speedster and he fits in the team very well.

“When I was with the Qalandars, he was pretty much the joker on that side. He was very loud, and all the lads seemed to enjoy him. I think he will fit in well with us. He’s a good lad, ” Harry Brook told Yorkshire’s county website.

The duo will once play together in the County Championship and T20 Blast later this year. The right-hander said that Rauf is going to bring pace and aggression and hoped that the latter will bowl the right length in the English conditions. Brook added that the Rawalpindi-born can be very lethal in the upcoming English summer.

“He’s going to bring pace and aggression, and hopefully he bowls the right length for England because he’s got good skills to go with it. If he brings that pace and aggression and uses his skills well, he’s going to be a real handful,” he added.

“He can swing it both ways, and he will seam it as well. I expect him to be very, very dangerous,” he maintained. It is to be noted that he has been playing for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League since 2019. Due to his performances in the BBL in 2019-20, he made his international debut in early 2020. Thus, he isn’t a stranger to playing for teams outside his country.
