‘Badhiyaa excuse hai bhai’ – Fans react to reports of Indian cricket board failing to book hotel rooms for Women’s T20 League auction

The Women’s T20 League is just a month away and the auction for the same is awaited, with the teams giving it their all to rope in the desired players in the inaugural season. The first season’s preparations got off to a great start as the corporates came up with a total bid of ?4699 crores, more than that of the men’s edition, the Indian T20 League when it started way back in 2008. 

The Indian cricket board is the richest board in the world and one can understand that they might come up with the best arrangements for the visiting teams and franchises as and when required. However, on January 31, Tuesday, reports emerged claiming that the board found it difficult for the franchises to book hotel rooms due to the ongoing marriage season. 

The reports suggested that the auction will take in the second week of February and it remains to be seen if the women’s stars would create history in the first-ever edition of the much-anticipated and highly-competitive tournament, which will take place in early March.

Women’s T20 League breaking records on all ends

Even before the start of the tournament, one could understand that the Women’s T20 League is breaking records on all grounds and the likes of Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Lucknow will be a part of the first edition. However, fans were disappointed in Chennai missing out on landing a team in the season. 

With the media rights going for a record amount, the tone for the Women’s T20 League 2023 is perfectly set up. With the auction set to take place in the second week of February, all that will be left are the actions and women stars giving it their all in the competitive tournament. The Mumbai franchise roped in Jhulan Goswami as their bowling coach for the women’s team on February 1, Wednesday and fans were quick enough to say that it would be Mumbai who might rule the women’s edition as well.
