‘Some Jokers Were Saying Drop Shubman Gill’- Twitter reacts as Shubman Gill notches his 2nd ODI ton
The man in form, Shubman Gill is paying another gem of a knock in the ongoing third one-day international against Sri Lanka at Greenfield International Stadium. Gill had a rare cheap outing in the last match. He looked aggressive right from the start but got out after scoring 21 off 11 balls.
However, in a bid to smash another boundary, he pulled one straight into the hands of Avishka Fernando on this 12th ball. In the first ODI, he stitched a huge 143-run partnership for the opening wicket. Gill smashed 70 runs in just 60 balls, including 11 fours.
Come the third game, he went one step further and notched his 2nd ODI hundred. He reached the landmark in just 89 deliveries. Once again, Gill stitched a beautiful partnership of 95 runs for the opening wicket to set the tone for a big score. Rohit Sharma got out after scoring 42 runs in 49 balls but Gill has been playing flawlessly.
Gill started cautiously as he didn’t score a single run in his first 10 balls. He got off the mark with a boundary and then upped the ante by scoring two boundaries to Rajitha, followed by four consecutive fours to Lahiru Kumara. He reached his fifty in 52 deliveries and continued going the same way.
At the time of writing, Gill is currently unbeaten on 114 off 94 balls, which includes 14 fours and 2 sixes. The fans have been in awe of Shubman Gill’s current form in ODI. Here’s a look at some of the reactions from them on Twitter with regard to Gill’s second ton:
Well played @ShubmanGill hopefully goes on to make a ? @imVkohli batting at the other end looking Solid ! But concern for me half empty stadium ? Is one day cricket dying ? #IndiavsSrilanka

Shubman Gill may have settled the debate as to who should India’s first-choice opener be with Rohit Sharma in ODIs, at least for the time being. Ishan Kishan may have to bat in the middle-order in KL Rahul’s absence. #INDvSL

Shubman Gill looks very sold at the top of the order. He has a tight technique and wide array of shots. The @BCCI should keep investing in him and convey to him that he’ll be India’s opening batter in the @cricketworldcup with Rohit Sharma. #INDvsSL

A second ODI century for Shubman Gill. He was always going to be a prolific ODI batter and he's stamping his authority in the format with each passing game. What a joy to watch also
