India is all set to host Sri Lanka for a complete white-ball series in their first assignment of 2023. The Indian Cricket Board recently announced their squads for the T20I and matches. The tour kicks off with the T20I leg on the 3rd of January.

Many of the senior players, including Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and KL Rahul, have been rested for the T20I matches in keeping with the recent trend in Indian cricket. Rishabh Pant, India’s star wicket-keeper, has also been rested for the entire series.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya has been named the captain of the T20I side. On the other hand, a few new faces will be seen during the three-match series. Shivam Mavi and Mukesh Kumar have earned their maiden T20I call-up for the series.

As for the ODI squad, a few calls have surprised the fans. While Rohit, Rahul, and Kohli will return for the three-match series, Shikhar Dhawan has been left out of the series. The decision to leave out the in-form player has enraged the fans. Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan will be the choice of openers, along with the Indian captain, for the series.

Additionally, Pandya has been named the vice-captain instead of KL Rahul and will make his comeback for the Indian ODI team. It should be noted that Ravindra Jadeja, who was anticipated to rejoin the team, has not been named in either squad.
