Perth Scorchers defeated Melbourne Stars by 61 runs in the Big Bash League 2022 matchup between the two teams. Josh Inglis was their standout player, scoring 74 runs in just 33 balls. He hit five boundaries in his innings and as many as six sixes.
However, the one that stood out was the one that came at the back end of the innings against Trent Boult. In the 19th over of the first innings, Inglis played one of the most unique shots against Boult that gave him six runs. He switched his batting stance and hit the ball in the third-man region. Even the commentators were left in awe of this shot.

In the meantime, The Scorchers defeated the Melbourne Stars after winning the toss and electing to bat at CitiPower Centre in Melbourne. The Scorchers scored 7-229 from 20 overs, led by Josh Inglis (74) and Faf du Plessis (68), while Luke Wood claimed 5-50 with the ball. After the Thunder’s 5-232 in 2021 and the Stars’ 2-273 in 2022, the Scorchers’ 229 was the third-highest total in Big Bash League history.
The Stars’ response was off to a shaky start as Joe Clarke was the first man out after scoring 18 runs off 11 balls, including two fours and a six, before being caught by Josh Inglis off the bowling of Jason Behrendorff.
Beau Webster was the only hope for the Stars, with his score of 43 in 32 balls. While Nick Larkin (34 runs in 24 balls), also tried his best to take his team through, it was not enough for the Stars. In the end, they were restricted to a score of 168/8, handing the Scorchers a 61-run victory.
In the meantime, the Perth Scorchers stand in second place with three wins in four games. On the other hand, the Melbourne Stars are hanging in second to last place, with just one win in the four games that they have played so far.
