‘That was seriously well done’ – Twitter in awe after MS Dhoni runs out Bhanuka Rajapaksa
MS Dhoni is known for his athleticism on the field in the game of cricket. Over the years, he has effected uncountable run-outs, stumpings, and catches behind the stumps. Not just that, Dhoni has also been one of the fastest runners while batting. The 40-year-old running out Bangladesh batter during the T20 World Cup 2016 is still etched in the memory of the fans.
At the age of 40, he has once again displayed his athleticism against Punjab in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. His side Chennai won the toss and elected to bowl first in the ongoing game. The defending champions entered the game after back-to-back losses in the first two games against Kolkata and Lucknow respectively. With the ball, they had a great start as left-arm pacer Mukesh Choudhary took the wicket of Mayank Agarwal (4).
Choudhary took the wicket on the second ball of the innings after getting plundered for a four on the first ball. In the next over, Chris Jordan came to bowl. It is to be noted that he is playing his first game after recovering from a tonsil infection. The pacer was welcomed with a six over fine leg boundary. What followed the next ball was a brilliant piece of glovework of former skipper Dhoni. Rajapaksa played the ball and tried to steal a single towards the right of the bowler.
His batting partner Shikhar Dhawan took off but he was blinded by the bowler. After which, he stayed back and the Sri Lankan came too far down the pitch. In the meantime, Jordan picked the ball and tried to hit the stumps. However, he missed but the ball was collected by Dhoni, who flicked the ball and hit the stumps to effect the runout.
This is how Twitter reacted.
