‘Paaji aapke saath rehke ye seekh gaya hu ki…’ – Arshdeep Singh’s hilarious reaction while interacting with Yuzvendra Chahal
India’s victory over Bangladesh propelled them one step closer to the 20-20 World Cup semi-finals.
India’s victory over Bangladesh propelled them one step closer to the 20-20 World Cup semi-finals. The match was quite dramatic, with Bangladesh’s spectacular start to the chase making it appear as if they might just be able to reach the target of 185. However, India regained control following a rain delay, and Bangladesh fell five runs short with Arshdeep Singh bowling the final over.
Arshdeep had bowled multiple yorkers in the over, and on one of his deliveries, he pulled his length back and was hit for a six. Arshdeep was asked how he handled pressure on his ‘Chahal TV’ series by spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, and the pacer had a rather cheeky response.
“Pressure to paaji aapke saath rehke ye seekh gaya hu ki pressure nai lena (Staying with you I have learnt that one shouldn’t take too much pressure),” Arshdeep started saying. Chahal quickly intervened and instructed him to talk about his bowling.
“I just had to back my yorker. In the beginning, I thought that he might try playing the scoop and that is why I bowled the bouncer but that turned out to be a bad idea. After that I was just backing the yorker,” Ardhdeep said.
I was just thinking that I will give my best: Arshdeep Singh
In the 12th over, Arshdeep had taken crucial wickets of Afif Hossain and Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan. “I was just thinking that I will give my best whenever I get to bowl. There were big boundaries in front so I will use them. They played two shots there but because it was the longer boundary, they were caught out there. Whenever we get a wicket, it breaks the flow of runs. So that helped a lot,” he said.
In the meantime, India is on the verge of reaching the semi-finals. So far, the Men in Blue have won three of their four games. They play Zimbabwe in their final Super 12 Stage match on Sunday. A victory here would ensure India’s place in the knockout stages.
