Chennai and Lucknow fought at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in match 7 of the Indian T20 League. The former batted first after losing the toss. They had a field day with the bat as Robin Uthappa provided a great to the team. His innings of 50 runs off 27 balls helped the team score 73/1 at the end of the powerplay.

Uthappa hit eight fours and a six before he was LBW by Ravi Bishnoi in the eighth over of the innings.

The Men In Yellow took the advantage of the foundation set by the opening batter as they amassed 210/7, the joint-highest team score. Rajasthan had scored the same amount of runs against Hyderabad a few games ago. Meanwhile, the likes of Moeen Ali (35), Shivam Dube (49), Ambati Rayudu (27), skipper Ravindra Jadeja (17), and MS Dhoni (16) helped the team set the target of 211 runs for the KL Rahul-led side.

In reply, the Men In Green Mint had a great start as Rahul (40) and Quinton de Kock stitched a partnership of 99 runs before the former was dismissed by debutant Dwaine Pretorius. Manish Pandey (5) followed soon with the scorecard reading 105/2. De Kock scored 61 off 45 balls including nine fours before he was accounted for by his South Africa teammate Pretorius. This wicket left the team reeling at 139/3, needing further 72 runs in 5.2 overs.

The likes of Evin Lewis and Deepak Hooda (13) tried to up the ante but the latter was caught at the boundary while trying to hit the full toss bowled by Dwayne Bravo. At the end of 18 overs, the team needed 34 runs. Shivam Dube bowled the penultimate over and the likes of Lewis and Ayush Badoni added 25 runs in the over. The equation came down to nine runs needed in six balls, which was easily chased by the duo with three balls left in the game.
