Shimron Hetmyer Hits Back At Media For Blaming His Wife Over His Exclusion From West Indies Squad
Shimron Hetmyer was excluded from the World Cup squad after he failed to catch his flight to Australia.
Shimron Hetmyer and his wife took a beating from fans and the media after West Indies were eliminated in the first round of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. The star batter was excluded from the World Cup squad after he failed to catch his flight to Australia.
Hetmyer had rescheduled his flight once before, citing personal reasons. However, he failed to make it to rescheduled flight as well. As a result, West Indies Cricket Board took a call to drop him from the squad. Following the Men in Maroon’s premature disqualification, some fans and media blamed Hetmyer and his wife for the team’s demise.
Now, Hetmyer has hit back at the fans with an Instagram story. “I have no idea why ppl bashing my wife about everything that I do… I do have a mind of my own and make my own decisions and choices… @tequila_goddess_nh is my life and always will be… she is the most gorgeous woman in the world to me and will always be my queen,” he wrote.
Later, his wife also added to the conversation. “Lol more talking gonna happen lol I guess I play cricket too lol @shetmyer my forever guy,” she wrote.

In the meantime, the most successful team in the history of the 20-20 World Cup has failed to qualify for the showpiece event’s Super 12 phase. Ireland defeated the Men from the Caribbean in the first round of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 thanks to Paul Stirling’s blistering knock.
Following an abysmal start to the tournament, West Indies were defeated by Ireland by 9 wickets in their must-win match on Friday. West Indies batted first in their crucial match at the Bellerive Oval, posting 146-5 in 20 overs. Ireland staged one of the biggest upsets in the T20 World Cup group stage. They completed the run-chase in just 17.3 overs to eliminate the West Indies from the tournament. He scored 66* off 48 balls, while Lorcan Tucker remained unbeaten on 45 off 35 balls.
