‘Manla re bhauuuuu’- Virat Kohli showers high praise for Suryakumar Yadav for his whirlwind knock against South Africa
In the 2nd T20I against South Africa, India got off to a great start as Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul stitched a perfect opening partnership of 96 runs. It gave India a perfect platform to notch a big score.
Virat Kohli came in at number three and played the perfect anchor role. Suryakumar Yadav came in at four and went all guns blazing at the other end. Suryakumar Yadav looked in imperious form as he took the South African bowlers to the cleaners. He smashed a brilliant 61 from just 22 balls, giving South Africa no respite. India ended up notching a big total of 237-3 in their 20 overs.
Virat Kohli switched gears after Suryakumar Yadav got run-out and tore apart the South African bowlers in the end. David Miller’s sensational ton helped South Africa reach close to the total but India eventually won the game by 16 runs.
After the game, the Mumbai batter uploaded a picture on social media and captioned it as “2/2 IN”. Kohli, interestingly, responded with the message in Marathi.
Delighted with his performance, Kohli responded to the current World No. 2 on Instagram. He commented on the post, “Manla re bhauuuuu (acknowledged brother).”
Due to the 16-run victory, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series against South Africa. They will look to give the regulars like Virat Kohli and KL Rahul rest and try and look at other options in the third T20I. Among the bowlers, either one of Arshdeep Singh or Deepak Chahar could be rested, and Mohammad Siraj could be given a game. The last t20I will be played in Indore which will also be a high scoring game.
