‘Always in our hearts’- Twitter pens heartfelt tributes on Shane Warne’s birth anniversery

Shane Warne the legendary Australian spinner passed away earlier this year after suffering cardiac arrest while on vacation in Thailand. The news had plunged the cricketing fraternity into sadness.

The 13th of September however has come as a day to celebrate his life and legacy as the renounced cricketer celebrated his birthday on this very day. The entire cricketing world has today come together to celebrate what would have been Warne’s 53rd birthday.

Former players, celebrities, cricket ground authorities, cricket boards, and thousands of fans took to social media to share wishes and other heartfelt notes to the recently departed cricket legend.

Sachin Tendulkar who was Warne’s arch-rival when on the field and best of friends off of it was among thousands to pen a heartfelt note to Shane Warne. Tendulkar wrote, “Thinking of you on your birthday Warnie! Gone too soon. Had so many memorable moments with you. Will cherish them forever mate.”

Shane Warne’s official Twitter account which is now handled by his family also wrote a heartfelt note on his birthday. It said, “A legacy gives you a perspective on what’s important. It is about the richness and the impact they had on people and places. Shane’s Legacy will live on. Happy Birthday- always in our hearts.”

Former India batter Yuvraj Singh who must have learned the treads of bowling watching Warne bowl shared a tribute to the late bowler as well. He wrote, “Fondly remembering this great legend on his birth anniversary! A man who defined class and accuracy on the pitch through his zest for perfection! May you shine the brightest wherever you are mate.”

The two-time ODI World Cup winner is one of the biggest names in cricket. He has taken 708 wickets in Test cricket second only to Muthiah Muralitharan. He is also greatly remembered for taking the Rajasthan side to a trophy win in the inaugural season of the Indian T20 League in 2008.
