Amit Mishra and Shahid Afridi engage in Twitter war over Kashmir issue
Shahid Afridi has been vocal on the Kashmir issue since 2020
Former India and Pakistan players, Amit Mishra and Shahid Afridi, have engaged in a Twitter war over the sensitive Kashmir issue. The reason for their disagreement is a convicted separatist Yasin Malik. Earlier this month, Malik pleaded guilty to all charges. He has been charged with various acts such as section 16 (terrorist act), 17 (raising funds for terrorist act), 18 (conspiracy to commit terrorist act) and 20 (being member of terrorist gang or organisation) of the UAPA and sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 124-A (sedition) of the IPC.
These charges come under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Notably, the convict has accepted all the charges and decided not to contest them. The charges have been levelled by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The Delhi court is set to announce its verdict on the case. Meanwhile, the court has directed the NIA to look into Malik’s financial situation and the NIA has sought the death penalty for the convict. Meanwhile, Afridi took to Twitter and claimed that the charges against the separatist are fabricated. He also asked the United Nations to look into the Kashmir issue.
“India’s continued attempts to silence critical voices against its blatant human right abuses are futile. Fabricated charges against #YasinMalik will not put a hold to #Kashmir’s struggle to freedom. Urging the #UN to take notice of unfair & illegal trails against Kashmir leaders,” Afridi Tweeted

After the former Pakistan skipper’s Tweet, leggie Mishra reminded the former that the convict has pleaded guilty of all the charges. The former India player also took a jibe at Afridi on his birth certificate.
“Dear @safridiofficial he himself has pleaded guilty in court on record. Not everything is misleading like your birthdate.

For the unversed, Afridi launched his autobiography in 2019 where he revealed that he is not 1980-born but 1975-born. According to the official records, the right-hander was born in 1980. However, he claimed that he was 19-years-old when he scored a 37-ball 100.
