Ajinkya Rahane

Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane and his wife Radhika Dhopavkar have been blessed with a baby boy on Wednesday evening. Coincidentally, the couple was blessed with their first child, daughter Arya, on the same date three years ago. Rahane took to Instagram and shared the news with his fans.

The former Indian vice-captain wrote, “This morning Radhika and I welcomed our baby boy into the world. Both Radhika and the baby are doing well and are completely healthy. We’d like to thank you for all your love and blessings!”

Ajinkya Rahane and Radhika Dhopavkar tied the knot on 26 September 2014. The couple got married according to Marathi customs after being childhood friends. Five years later, in 2019, the couple was blessed with a daughter and named her Arya.

Rahane last played for India in the third Test against South Africa at Capetown in January this year. The batter was dropped from the team owing to his poor form with the bat since 2021. The 34-year-old returned to domestic cricket and got some much-needed runs under his belt.

Rahane’s Career Highlights

Rahane’s career will be forever remembered for his two brilliant hundreds in India’s two major victories overseas. The first one came at Lord’s 2014 where he scored a brilliant 103 which helped India recover from a batting collapse and post a decent first innings total. India went on to win the match by 95 runs as Ishant Sharma picked 7 for 74 in the second innings.

The second hundred came against Australia during the boxing day Test in 2020. After being skittled for 36 in the first Test match, Rahane took the onus upon himself to script a comeback for the ages by the Indian team. Rahane scored a magnificent 112 in the first innings to help his team get a massive lead of 131. India went on to win the match by eight wickets and levelled the series 1-1. The Indian captain was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his scores of 112 and 27* in the Test.
