‘Acha khelke aaiyo bhai’ – Fans react as reports of Dhruv Jurel making his debut against England during third Test emerge

KS Bharat’s poor performances resulted in the team management taking this decision.

It is being reported that Team India has had enough of KS Bharat and is prepared to look at Dhrul Jurel as a backup wicketkeeper. The uncapped youngster is probably going to appear in an international match for the very first time when the third Test between India and England takes place in Rajkot starting on February 15.

Although KS Bharat has performed admirably with the gloves under challenging subcontinental circumstances, he is yet to make an impact with the bat. The Andhra wicket-keeper, made his debut in the Border-Gavaskar series in 2023. He has an average of just 20.09 and has not yet reached a half-century for India. Conversely, Dhruv Jurel has scored runs in both the unofficial series versus the England Lions and the 2024 Ranji Trophy.

One of the sources from the Indian Cricket Board said, “Bharat’s batting has been well below-par, while his ‘keeping hasn’t been great either. He isn’t making use of his chances. Jurel, on the other hand, is talented, has a good attitude and has a bright future. He has done well for Uttar Pradesh, India A and the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. Don’t be surprised if Jurel makes his Test debut at Rajkot.”

Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat now to seem to appear out of the picture for various reasons. Thus Dhruv Jurel has a great chance to solidify his spot in Tests, at least until Rishabh Pant gets back.

Jasprit Bumrah to be rested for the fourth Test?

According to various claims, Jasprit Bumrah was scheduled to take a break before Team India’s third Test in Rajkot. However, the team management had urged to play Bumrah for the third Test as well. They might have decided to give him a respite during the fourth Test at Ranchi instead. They have come to this decision considering the ten-day gap between the second and third Test matches

The Indian Cricket Board source said, “He could be rested for the fourth Test in Ranchi, which means that he will be fresh and firing for the fifth and final Test in Dharamshala in early March, which could well be the decider of this closely contested series. That’s the point where Bumrah’s presence will make a difference.”
