The new season of the Abu Dhabi T10 League is eagerly awaited by all the cricket fans. Its first season was played in 2017. Over the years, a lot of great matches have been played in the tournament. After all, the grounds aren’t big enough and besides, a batter generally has the plan of going berserk given the format of the game. This is the reason there have been a lot of close games.

Mostly, it has been observed that the bat dominates this tournament and the bowlers are mostly helpless. After all, there are bowlers who take time getting into the rhythm. By the time they can get into it, their spell ends as they can bowl only two overs. Meanwhile, in this listicle, we will discuss the top-five games in the history of the league.

Top five games of the T10 League

  1. Punjabi Legends vs Pakhtoons (second semifinal 2017)

The game was played in Sharjah which is the smallest ground in the UAE. After winning the toss, the Pakhtoons batted first and amassed 129/4. This was assumed to be a daunting total for the Legends.

However, the Punjabis chased down the target in 9.1 overs to secure their place in the final. Shahid Afridi scored 41 off just 17 balls. Apart from him, Ahmed Shehzad (58) played a match-winning knock.

2. Northern Warriors vs Pakhtoons (2018 final)

In the final of the second edition, Pakhtoons elected to field first. The decision proved to be a bad one for them as the opposition amassed 140/3. Rovman Powell (61) and Andre Russell (38) punished the bowlers.

In reply, the Pakhtoons were tried well but were never in the chase. They were restricted to 118/7, losing the game by 22 runs. The likes of Andre Fletcher and Shafiqullah tried well but didn’t get enough support.

3. Deccan Gladiators vs Qalandars (2019 Qualifier 2)

In a quest for a place in the final, Gladiators won the toss and elected to bat first. They amassed 116/7 runs, thanks to Ben Cutting (43*) in a knockout game. This would to be a cakewalk for the team.

However, the Qalandars fought back and were not far behind if not matching the required run rate. However, they couldn’t match the RRR and lost the game by 12 runs.

4. Team Abu Dhabi vs Northern Warriors (2020 Eliminator 2)

The Warriors won the toss and elected to field in this must-win game against the hosts. The home team amassed 114/7 and were looking good to ahead in the tournament. However, this wasn’t meant to be.

In reply, the Warriors chased down the target with two balls remaining. Fabian Allen’s four-for was one of the rare instances of a bowler picking this many wickets in a game in the history of the tournament.

5. Team Abu Dhabi vs Bangla Tigers (2021 third place playoff)

This was one of the rare instances in the league when both teams didn’t cross the 100-run mark but managed to play a tight game. Abu Dhabi, the home team won the toss and batted first. They could only score 98/5.

It looked like the tigers would chase down the target easily. As it turned out, the game went down to the ball and the Bengal team won the game by four wickets.
