The Indian T20 League 2023 is all set to go underway in just a day’s time. Defending Champions Gujarat are all set to host the four-time tournament winners Chennai at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Ahead of the match, the stage will be set for the opening ceremony of the tournament.

Arijit Singh, Tamannah Bhatia, and Rashmika Mandanna have confirmed their participation in the opening ceremony of the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League. The opening ceremony is expected to begin around 6:00 p.m. IST on March 31, followed by the match about half an hour later, similar to the launch of the Women’s T20 League 2023 last month. In addition to Arijit, Mandanna, and Tamanna, Katrina Kaif and Tiger Shroff were rumoured to perform at the mega event, however, nothing has been confirmed yet.

This year, the cash-rich league will also return to a ‘home-and-away’ format, with the 10 teams divided into two groups for the 70 league matches. The tournament final will take place on May 28 with Ahmedabad expected to host the mega event.

For three seasons, the tournament was not played in its regular home-away format due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The entire 2020 season was held in the United Arab Emirates, while the first leg of the 2021 season began in India before being postponed and relocated to the United Arab Emirates. The season 2022 was held at four different venues in Pune and Mumbai.

In the meantime, the first match between Gujarat and Chennai has been sold out, according to the organisers. Gujarat will play a ‘home’ game in front of its fans for the first time. Last year’s final was held in Ahmedabad, but it was not a home game for either team, Gujarat and Rajasthan.

Fans were super excited at hearing the lineup for the opening ceremony. “Imagine arijit singh singing hamaari adhuri kahani on every RCB match,” a fan wrote.
