‘Ab dikhayenge inkhe aukaat’ – Fans react as reports claim that Dubai might host Champions Trophy 2025

Dubai is one of the options where the Champions Trophy 2025 might be held.

The eight-team Champions Trophy is also set to return to international cricket in 2025. The tournament is scheduled to relocate from Pakistan, the tournament’s initial allocated host nation. Pakistan, who won the Champions Trophy in 2017, were hoping to finally host the much awaited competition at home.

However, if India’s position stays the same as it did during the Asia Cup, India will not be visiting Pakistan. This is given the intense political tensions that currently exist between Pakistan and India. Thus, Dubai may host the competition in 2025. There is also na option of using a hybrid format similar to that of the Asia Cup in 2023.

After the Indian Cricket Board ruled out the possibility of an Indian side competing in Pakistan while having the Asia Cup hosting dispute, there were doubts over Pakistan’s ability to host the 2025 Champions Trophy as well.

Though it is debatable if they could accomplish the same thing for a major world event that featured eight of the best nations in the world, the Asia Cup fell under the ACC and India was able to persuade other ACC members to adopt a hybrid approach.

In terms of shifting the entire competition Pakistan has always been substituted by the United Arab Emirates. It may therefore end up hosting their inaugural Champions Trophy and is currently the most practical alternative.

The competition will hold its ninth edition, the first in eight long years, with the 2025 Champions Trophy. Although Pakistan, New Zealand, South Africa, and the West Indies have all won the championship once, India and Australia have won it twice.

Pakistan requested compensation for not signing hosting rights!

Pakistan has been designated as the host nation for the tournament by the apex cricket council. However, the global organisation has not yet signed the crucial hosting agreement with Pakistan. This was confirmed by a very trustworthy source inside the PCB that informed PTI on Sunday.

The source said, “Pakistani officials discussed the probability of the Indian board (BCCI) again refusing to send its team to Pakistan and made it clear that in any given situation the ICC must avoid taking unilateral decisions on the tournament.”
