‘Aaya hai nahi, ruled out pehle hogaye’ – Fans react as KL Rahul ruled out of first two matches of Asia Cup 2023

Ishan Kishan is most likely to take the place of KL Rahul in the middle-order

Indian team batter KL Rahul, who has been dealing with a hamstring issue, was expected to make his comeback. During the encounter between the Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore, the wicketkeeper batter suffered a right leg injury. Rahul missed the remainder of the campaign in addition to the WTC championship match against Australia as a result of the injury.

The Indian Cricket Board along with Indian team head coach stated on August 29th that Rahul would be missing India’s first two games of the Asia Cup 2023. This has been a significant setback for the 31-year-old’s comeback in the tournament. In their opening two games, India will compete against Nepal and Pakistan. India’s opening 2023 Asia Cup game is against Pakistan on September 2.

“He will be unavailable for the first two games” : Rahul Dravid

Rahul Dravid spoke in the press conference regarding the availability of the Lucknow Super Giants skipper. He said, “KL has had a good week with us, playing well, progressing really well but he will be unavailable for the first part for the Kandy leg of the trip.”

The former Team India batter then discussed how the injury had been treating the batter and when he would be back. He said, “The NCA will be looking after him for the next few days while we are travelling. We will reassess on the 4th (September) and take it from there. But signs are looking good. He will be unavailable for the first two games.”

Ishan Kishan is probably going chosen as the wicketkeeper because KL Rahul will not play in either of the group games. Sanju Samson, who is the team’s backup wicketkeeper, will also go with them but is not likely to replace Kishan. In place of KL Rahul, both Shreyas Iyer as well as Suryakumar Yadav may receive playing time in the batting department.
