Taking to Twitter on Friday, February 10, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Pant shared photos of him walking on crutches with an inspiring caption. “One step forward. One step stronger. Pant was seriously injured in the accident. However, Pant narrowly survived the accident. Pant was then admitted to Max Hospital in Dehradun for treatment, from where a few days later he was airlifted and shifted to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai for knee surgery.

At the end of the year 2022, Pant performed very well for the Indian team in the 2-match Test series played on the tour of Bangladesh. In the first match of this Test series, he played an important inning of 46 runs, while in the second match, during the team’s first innings, he scored a brilliant 93 runs with the bat.

Earlier, the 25-year-old released a statement on social media in the aftermath of the car accident. “I am humbled and grateful for all the support and good wishes. I am glad to let you know that my surgery was a success. The road to recovery has begun and I am ready for the challenges ahead. Thank you to the Indian Cricket Board, Jay Shah & government authorities for their incredible support,” Pant said.

The Indian cricketer also singled out two individuals, who rescued him after the tragic car crash, in his first public statement. “I may not have been able to thank everyone individually, but I must acknowledge these two heroes who helped me during my accident and ensured I got to the hospital safely. Rajat Kumar & Nishu Kumar, Thank you. I’ll be forever grateful and indebted,” Pant added.
