20-20 World Cup 2022: IND vs Pak Best Playing XI

Published on

India and Pakistan are all set to lock horns with each other in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on 23rd October 2022 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Both teams would be looking to start their campaign with a win and you expect it to be a great contest.

The two teams last met each other in the last edition of the 20-20 World Cup last year. Pakistan won the game comprehensively by 10 wickets. The Men in Blue wouldn’t have forgotten that heartbreak and be keen to take revenge for that.

Both teams have finalized their squads for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup and neither of them has made wholesome changes in comparison to the last year’s squads. In this article, we have compiled our India vs Pakistan best-playing XI for the upcoming tournament. Here’s a look at that:

Openers: Rohit Sharma and M Rizwan

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will be leading the team. Since taking the charge as India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma has only progressed as a captain.

He boasts of an outstanding record as an Indian captain in the shortest format. Also, being a powerful hitter of the cricket ball, Sharma will be our designated opener in the playing XI. Pakistan batter, M Rizwan should be his opening partner. He has been scoring runs consistently for Pakistan for a significant period of time now. Rizwan is currently the number one ranked T20I batter in the world.

Middle-order: Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Dinesh Karthik

Virat Kohli takes the number three spot in the format. He has overcome his poor run of form, thanks to some consistent scoring in the past few months. Suryakumar Yadav, who is ranked number two in the T20I rankings, will take the number four spot. He has been in the form of his life and is a perfect fit in the middle order.

The presence of Hardik Pandya should provide the stability in the team. He will bolster the batting unit and will provide the sixth bowling option as well. Looking at Pakistan’s lackluster middle-order, it’s fair to include Dinesh Karthik for the finisher’s role instead of Asif Ali or Khushdil Shah.

Karthik has been nothing short of outstanding both in the Indian T20 League and the Indian colours for the past year. He should take the role of the finisher in the side.

Spinners: Yuzvendra Chahal and Shadab Khan

Yuzvendra Chahal and Shadab Khan will be the two spinners in the team. Both are the first-choice spinners in the T20I teams and are in stellar form. Besides, Shadab Khan will provide depth in the batting unit.

Bowlers: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Haris Rauf and Shaheen Afridi

Bhuvneshwar Kumar would be a great option to have in the power play. He will swing the ball early in the powerplay and provide the variety needed in the pace attack. Shaheen Afridi is fit to play the 20-20 World Cup. He will most likely be playing the first game against India. The left-arm pacer will lead the pace attack in this eleven. Another speedster from the Men in Green, Haris Rauf completes our playing XI.
